| Below is a picture taken May 1996 at a Piano Technicians Guild Regional Seminar where I demonstrated
the "CCPPT." The aluminum frame erected over the piano had a
crane-like trolley car on a track at the top of the frame - in the picture
behind the big banner. Suspended from the trolley is the stepper
motor and gear reducer (in blue - just to the right of my left hand.
The output shaft of the gear reducer connected directly to the socket that
engaged the tuning pin on the piano. The apparatus did work at this
Seminar, but it was pretty unwieldy, and the ambient noise in the room
interfered with acquiring a good signal from the struck piano note.
Also, the motor added to the noise. These problems led to the
development of the motor being located via a flexible shaft away from the
piano. See revised
